The Shitalakshya River originates as a distributary of the Brahmaputra River and flows southwest and then east of the city of Narayanganj in central Bangladesh until it merges with the Dhaleshwari River near Kalagachhiya. The river is about 110 km long and at it widest, near Narayangani, it is 300 meters in width. It remains navigable year round.
