Overview of M M Ali College
M M Ali College (Maulana Mohammad Ali College) founded by Maulana abdul hamid khan bhasani in 1957 at Kagmari, a place 3 km away from tangail town. Although named after M M Ali, a leader of the khilafat movement, and the political guru of Bhasani, the institution is popularly known as Kagmari College. It was first housed in an abandoned government building. It was nationalised in 1975. At present, it offers Higher Secondary and Degree (pass) programmes in science, arts and commerce. It also has Honours programmes in 11 subjects. In 2000, the college had 50 teachers and 1,450 students. It has a rich library and a hostel that provides accommodation to 80 students. The college provides higher education opportunities to students from poor families of the surrounding areas. It also contributes to development of their literary, cultural and sports faculties.
